2010 WR Rankings

WR is an interesting position in FF. From my observations over the past 15 years, a large number of WR's drafted in rounds 1 and 2 that were rated high seem to do poorly while 6 of the top 10 at seasons end were drafted in rounds 3-8. I'm throwing out the usual rankings to give who I think will actually do well. So don't feel like you have to take Steve Smith(CAR) or Calvin Johnson in round two because your fantasy mag says you have to. You may laugh now at my rankings, but watch and see.

1. Andre Johnson Mr. consistency is a no brainer. He is big, strong, fast, and athletic and cannot be covered in one on one coverage. Seems to get 100 catches and 1500 yards every year.

2. Miles Austin I can hear your laughter, but watch and learn. His talent is for real. He can go deep or run short routes and take them to the house. Roy runs lazy routes and can't catch, Dez will be good but not for another year or two, and Romo always reverts back to the guy he trusts most. He will get 7 catches a game with one or two 20+ yarders. Mark my words!!! :)

3. Brandon Marshall The Dolphins didn't trade for Marshall just to block. All of those 10 reception games from the Dolphins no name WR all stars from last year will now go to Marshall. I predict another 100 receptions, 1000+ yards, and double digit TD's.

4. Larry Fitzgerald Fitz and Andre Johnson are the two best WR's in football, but Larry's numbers will depend on who will throw him the ball. I don't see him producing the same numbers with Leinart or Anderson behind center. I predict a lot of games with 7 catches for 56 yards.

5. Roddy White Roddy is a stud and should put up huge numbers as long as Michael Turner is healthy. His numbers were down a bit with Matt Ryan and Turner out, but he should bounce back and perform like a top 10 WR.

6. Vincent Jackson He was a little inconsistent last year when defenses started keying on him, but he is Phillip Rivers favorite target and seems to catch a 50 yard bomb every game. It always helps to play the Chiefs, Raiders, and Bronco's for six games out of the year too.

7. Randy Moss Randy is showing signs of age and frustration but he still put up great numbers in standard scoring FFL's last year as the second best WR. Tom Brady missed him on a fair number of deep balls last year. I don't see that happening again.

8. Marques Colston The best Saints WR will again have a solid year with 1000+ yards and 10 TD's. He gets hurt by having so many weapons in that potent offense, but will still produce.

9. DeSean Jackson No one can match his quickness but how will Kevin Kolb perform? I still see him as a 4 catch per game guy, with one to two big plays per game.

10. Sidney Rice If Brett Favre comes back he is a top 10 WR. If Tavaris Jackson is at the helm look for his production to drop off significantly as Jackson will be more of a game manager versus a passer first.

11. Steve Smith Eli Mannings' favorite target. He isn't a game breaker, just a great route runner with toughness and great hands. I look for Smith to get another 100 catches this year.

12. Anquan Boldin If Derrick Mason can put up solid numbers as the number one WR at age 35 imagine what Boldin will do in this offense!

13 Reggie Wayne Reggie put up good numbers last year but seems to be aging. I think he will still be consistent as long as Peyton Manning is healthy.

14 Calvin Johnson I had Calvin on two teams last year after buying into the hype and learned a lot about him and his team. Looking at the facts, he has superman ability with a young QB and a below average Oline. He will live up to the hype one day and break out like Vernon Davis did last year, but I don't see it this year. Calvin will be better but don't expect Randy Moss' early years just yet.

15 Greg Jennings He had an off year, but I'm not worried. That offense is too good for him not to produce monster numbers.

2010 RB Rankings

1. Chris Johnson Everyone knew what the Titans were going to do every game last year and defenses still couldn't stop CJ. He broke the NFL record of yards from scrimmage and rushed for 2006 yards. He may not duplicate last year but if he stays healthy, should be an easy 2000+ yards from scrimmage and double digit TD's.

2. Michael Turner Don't buy into "the curse of 370" rubbish. Turner came into camp 30 pounds overweight last year and didn't train properly in the off-season. I think he has the potential to be the number one overall RB in fantasy this year if he can stay healthy. Early reports are he is in fantastic shape and ready to roll. He has so little wear and tear on his body after backing up LT for years he will be fresh.

3. Ray Rice The Ravens love this kid. He posted 2000 yards from scrimmage and can play every down. His TD total was low at 8, but I expect those numbers to reach double digits this year. He killed me every time I played against him last year with huge yardage numbers.

4. Adrian Peterson I like Peterson, but better without Favre. The Vikings have morphed into a passing team with Favre under center. Peterson will have more of a prominent role if Tavaris Jackson is the starter and used as a game manager. I think AP's fumbling issues are in his head a bit as well.

5. MJD I am a UCLA alum and love MJD's talent, but the fact of the matter is Jacksonville just isn't that good. David Garrard is servicable, the WR's are below average, and the Oline is ok. I think MJD on another team with better talent would produce top 2 numbers but on this bad team should post decent numbers from your low end number one back.

6. Cedric Benson Wow, what has the world of fantasy come to when Benson is a legitimate number one RB? I like Benson's role on one of the few non committee backfields , on a running team with a solid defense, and with a few new offensive weapons to keep defenses honest.

7. Frank Gore If Frank is going to have a big year, this is it. The niners drafted two Oline studs to help the running game and held off on taking another RB to compliment Gore. With his history of knee surgeries and carries, this is his year to shine while he is healthy and the number one guy.
